Celebrating a special occasion in lockdown needn’t be a doldrum affair. Now that we are way in to the year that never was, most of us will have celebrated a lockdown birthday by the time the year is up. There are lots of ways to make it special. A doorstep visit (is this allowed?) or a wave from outside your front door or windows if you’re in a flat from loved ones can really cheer up a birthday.
This time of year is a beautiful time to go for a walk, get in touch with nature and be out and about. A winter picnic is a firm favourite in this house, all you need is some sausage rolls and a flask of tea! We usually focus our celebrations around food, which is probably no surprise. We have a handful of excellent local suppliers, a butcher, a baker and a greengrocer who we can source excellent ingredients from. We usually grill outside, whatever the weather.
But if you can’t be bothered to cook, there are lots of options to make your birthday or special celebration really special. Your local restaurants will all be offering take away services, now is the time to support your local businesses. There are many cooking kit options available. I didn’t mean this to be a plug but it’s going to sound like one, our sister company The Admirable Crichton, have got a large selection of hampers and DIY meal kits, even canape kits if you want to have a really special evening. If you want to learn to roll sushi our other sister company Feng Sushi are selling sushi making kits.
Then choose a film on Netflix, we recently watched the Peanut Butter Falcon, can’t recommend it enough. Heart-warming, funny and easy to watch, and remember that it’s important to mark special occasions. Enjoy x
