Mozzo Magic
We wanted to take the time to big up our dedicated coffee supplier, Mozzo Coffee. Our relationship with Mozzo Coffee goes back a long time, our companies have grown up together. Grant Lang, founder of Mozzo and Chris Mitchell met in their early twenties and like their businesses, their friendship blossomed.
We love Mozzo Coffee for many reasons, their quality blends, the extensive support and training they deliver to every member of staff, their passion for service, but most of all, we love the impact they create socially.
Mozzo set up the Community2Community Fund (C2C Fund) back in 2015 to support the constructive progression of coffee farming communities. For every kilo of coffee beans they sell, they invest 5p* directly into the Fund as well as 1p for every coffee capsule sold. This means our customers are helping to enable a positive impact all the way down the coffee value chain when they buy our coffee.
*as of Sept 1st 2020, despite the impact of CV-19, Mozzo will double this contribution to 10p a kilo.
As well as Mozzo buying their sensational coffee, the C2C Fund has enabled sustainable infrastructure and quality improvements to the communities of two cooperatives in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Muungano (since 2015) and Rebuild Women’s Hope (since 2019). In Muungano the Fund has been used so far to help build an office and cupping lab, construct over 50 new drying tables, rehabilitate the Nyabirehe & Buchiro washing stations, supported the salaries of 6 field officers, established internet connection via satellite, constructed a 4th washing station at Nyangoma and supported the salary of Head Argonomist Julie Nirere. Working with Rebuild Women’s Hope (RWH), Mozzo and the C2C Fund are building and equipping the first ever and urgently needed maternity and paediatric clinic on the Idjwi Island, DRC. The clinic will look after expectant and new mothers and their infants,as well as treat and prevent disease in the wider Idjwi community. The construction of the maternity clinic has already had an impact and brought the first ever fresh water supply South Idjwi Island.
