As life returns to the ‘new normal’ we have been busy reopening sites. We treat each reopening like a mobilisation, this means bringing the entire team in to clean, set up displays, coffee bars and kitchens and get reacquainted with the site. This is an important aspect because some of our Genuine foodies have been on furlough, and this new way of working – wearing masks all day, being around people outside of their bubble can be daunting and overwhelming. By bringing the team in, we can physically walk the space with them, explaining our Covid risk assessments, answering any questions or concerns they have and making them feel comfortable and confident to return to their workplace. This way they can see the socially distanced procedures in place, the one-way systems, the 2-meter markers, screens at the till points and feel reassured that we are doing everything possible to make the workplace covid secure.
We have been completing refresher training for barista skills, working closely with Mozzo, and their Masters. We are working closely with our clients and their health and safety teams and facilities to make sure our teams are following onsite procedures as well as our own. We have also introduced some wellbeing training for our teams to complete as the last 16 months have been tough for everyone.
Once the sites have reopened, customers are so excited to see familiar faces and return to our cafes and restaurants, it is really encouraging to see our teams settling back in well and becoming one of the reasons people are returning to the office!
