What shall we have for lunch? We are pondering and the good thing is, that people still need to eat. Stranger than strange times.
We are seeing the true leadership skills of our teams’ surface, with many demonstrating high levels of innovation and thinking outside of the box. All the reasons they were brought into the Genuine family are coming to the fore – solutions oriented – yes, very much so. Calm at a time when everything is disorderly, yes.
We have many streams of our business to consider outside of The Genuine Dining Co. Signature Dining are a care home business. It’s not an option for them to close their doors, so for them it’s very much business as normal, the new normal.
We have an events business, The Admirable Crichton, whilst we are seeing a phased return to events in sight, their business has of course pretty much halted, and we are in full planning mode for our events later in the year.
Through GDC, we are bowled away by the support our clients are offering us. This is what true partnership looks like. We are so lucky to have the clients we have and are thankful for this show of support. We have about 80% of our client sites now open. There have invariably been changes to services and teams in order to ensure safety is paramount for customers and teams alike. Many risk assessments carried out and procedures put in place.
The foodies, the front-line staff, we are lost for words at their willingness to support, to retain order and to shuffle around so we can manage expectation around cost for our clients where we can.
We have a production kitchen in Camberwell where we have repatriated some of our staff who are not working in a site currently, to make all grab & go items to send out to clients. From this kitchen we have partnered with Foodari, our fruit and veg. supplier on logistics. They launched a home delivery service in March and through them we are delivering picnic boxes, another way we have flexed our services. Check out their website www.foodarihomedelivery.com for local, seasonal produce from Kent, or to order a picnic box.
If anyone wants to chew the cud and talk about catering, or anything really – just not COVID-19, then just give us a shout.
